It is important for parents and pre-school staff to work together to help your child feel confident and secure within the group. This may take a little longer for some children.
Your key person will discuss your child's needs with you and spend time building that special relationship over the first few weeks. Please do share any worries, concerns and achievements with them.
Please see our policies for more details on our settling in procedures.
Your child will be exploring all kinds of activities including messy ones!
Please don't send your little explorers in their best clothes. Dress them in comfortable, practical clothes so it wont matter if they get messy.
To help your child practice those important independence skills, especially in the bathroom, give them simple clothing to wear e.g. jogging bottoms, t-shirt and velco or slip on shoes shoes. And please, no open-toed sandals.
Each session at pre-school includes a healthy snack. We promote a cafe style snack. The children sit together with a member of staff at the table and enjoy a range of healthy snacks together.
This is a good opportunity to develop social and communication skills and to teach good table manners.
The children are encouraged to be as independent as possible, including peeling fruit, serving their own food & pouring their own drinks.
Food includes a variety of fruit & raw vegetables, cheese, yogurt, houmous, bread sticks and crackers.
We are proud to be a HEY Award healthy pre-school. This includes our commitment to encourage healthy lunch times.
We ask that lunch boxes contain with no sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks.
Lunch boxes should be clearly named on the outside & contain an ice pack to keep the lunch cool and fresh.
Please do not give your child anything that contains nuts e.g. no peanut butter or Nutella in case of any allergies
When you register your child at our setting, we ask you to provide the names of people authorised to collect your child on your behalf.
It is good practice for us to meet this person before hand. If this is not possible you will need to give us a password that they will provide on collection.
In an emergency please phone us to inform us someone else is collecting your child (with a password).
We will not let your child leave with an unauthorised person.
